Riga FC 4:1 Metta / LU: Cup Match Result

Match report

Riga faced Metta in the quarter-finals of the cup on 16 August 2026, winning 4-1. The match played out at their home ground, with the Latvian side taking control after a tense opening half. To be fair, Metta had shown attacking intent in recent fixtures, but this fixture demanded more composure than they provided. Caio Ferreira opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, a moment that shifted the momentum decisively. R. Aouani doubled the lead by the 69th, then added his second just four minutes later. And here's the thing about those two goals — they came when Metta were trying to find their footing after the break. D. Cinajevs made it four in the 84th minute, while Iago Siqueira added a fifth in stoppage time. The yellow cards came at regular intervals, with E. Maurs-Boks and A. Suleiman booked early, then Juan Christian and A. Cernomordijs both cautioned in the 60th minute. By then, Riga were comfortably in control. Substitutions began in the 46th minute when Maurs-Boks was replaced, followed by a flurry around the hour mark. P. Amoah, Juan Christian, and S. Jallow all came on, while R. Klavinskis and A. Suleiman were paired together in the 72nd. The late changes saw Caio Ferreira and C. Saco brought on together in the 79th. Riga had not won since their previous fixture before this run, and the result puts them one step closer to the semi-finals. Metta's recent form included a 12-1 victory over Riga FS II, but that level of output did not translate here. The quarter-final exit leaves them with only the league to focus on.
