A court cleared the Real Madrid defender in the sex-tape case after the victims forgave him, but a separate DUI fine drew a sharp rebuke from his coach.
Prosecutors dropped the charge against Asencio after the two victims told the court, by video link, that they forgave all four defendants. Three other former Real Madrid academy players, Ferrán Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez and Andrés García, who had recorded the videos of two teenage women, one of them a minor, at the time, in 2023, received one-year suspended prison sentences.

A day earlier, a separate court had fined Asencio €14,400 and banned him from driving for eight months after he was caught at the wheel with a blood-alcohol level four times the legal limit, also in the Canary Islands.
Former Real Madrid manager José Mourinho did not let the matter pass quietly. "Everyone Makes mistakes, but a series of mistakes is something different," he said, adding that the club had opened disciplinary proceedings even as Asencio remains part of his plans.
Asencio has not featured for Madrid this season because of an injury that Mourinho said should keep him out for a couple more weeks, so the dressing-room reckoning, if there is one, will wait until he is back on the pitch.
