Yamal And Fermin Lopez Score Braces In Barcelona Rout
Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez both scored twice as Barcelona thrashed Valencia 5-0 at Mestalla, with Raphinha and Pedri also on target under Hansi Flick.
Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the 6th minute with a flicked finish from Fermin Lopez's chipped pass, then added a second on 84 minutes. Fermin Lopez himself doubled Barcelona's lead in the 22nd minute, turning in Anthony Gordon's lay-off for his fourth league goal of the season. Raphinha made it 3-0 in the 50th minute and Pedri put daylight further out at 4-0 in the 79th, before Yamal's late second closed out the 5-0 win.
Rodri made his first start for the club, anchoring midfield alongside Pedri and Fermin Lopez. Gabriel Jesus, the other summer arrival, was named among the substitutes and came on late. Pau Cubarsi was withdrawn shortly after the hour.
Hansi Flick's side, unbeaten through four league matches, now turn to the Champions League, where they open the campaign away to Feyenoord on Wednesday.
