Paul Merson doubts Florian Wirtz will succeed at Liverpool, questioning how much longer the club can wait for the €136m signing to click.

Paul Merson has questioned whether Florian Wirtz will ever come good at Liverpool, saying he does not know how much longer the club can afford to wait.

"I don't know how much longer they can wait for Florian Wirtz. I'm a big fan of his, I think he is a special footballer. But it just isn't working, it hasn't clicked. I don't know how much longer they can wait," Merson said.

Liverpool signed the 23-year-old from Bayer Leverkusen last summer for €136 million with add-ons. He has made 54 appearances for the club and scored seven goals.
