CSKA won 3:1 away to Makhachkala's Dynamo in round nine of the Russian Premier League at the Anzhi Arena, climbing to third in the table.

Home defender Makhmudzhon Makhamadzhonov put the visitors ahead in the 13th minute, turning a low cross from former Dynamo man Mohamed Azzi into his own net. Gamid Agalarov levelled seven minutes later. The 26-year-old forward, who has scored nine goals since joining Dynamo in February, thought he had a second on 49 minutes but the effort was ruled out for offside.

Lusiano Gond restored CSKA's lead in the 69th minute, converting the first assist of Ivan Oleinikov's senior career. Imran Firou, a midfielder who arrived at CSKA in August and had yet to score for the club, settled the scoring on 79 minutes.

CSKA move to 19 points, level with Spartak but placed third on the head-to-head standings and ahead of Moscow Dynamo. Krasnodar remain top with 21 points, two clear of the three Moscow clubs. Makhachkala's Dynamo stay seventh on 12 points.

Both sides return after the international break: Dynamo travel to Orenburg on 10 October, and CSKA host Rodina on 11 October.
