FC Porto: illegal ticket sales scheme faces charges
About 25 people, including former Super Dragões leader Fernando Madureira, are set to be charged over a scheme reselling FC Porto tickets for millions in profit.
Portugal's Ministério Público is close to filing charges over an alleged scheme selling FC Porto match tickets illegally, with the case said to have generated profits running into millions of euros.
Around 25 people face accusations, according to Jornal de Notícias, including Fernando Madureira, known as "Macaco" and a former president of the Super Dragões, along with relatives, members of the group and at least seven former employees of Porto Comercial, the company that ran the club's ticketing under the previous board.
The charges under consideration include irregular ticket sales, breach of trust, money laundering and disloyalty. Prosecutors are also preparing to seek the forfeiture of what they regard as illegitimate profits from the accused.
The investigation found that tickets were handed to the Super Dragões at low prices and then resold at higher prices near the Estádio do Dragão on matchdays. Some of the sales were logged by the PSP during surveillance operations.
