Gil Vicente to host Sp. Braga on 18 October
The postponed Liga Betclic clash was rescheduled after gastrointestinal illness hit Braga's squad, with both sides first playing Taça de Portugal openers.
Gil Vicente and Sp. Braga are set to fill in their postponed Liga Betclic fixture on 18 October, once the pair are done with their Taça de Portugal openers earlier that week.
The two sides did not meet in round 2 of the league after a bout of gastrointestinal infections swept through the Braga squad in mid-August. The Portuguese Football Federation has now scheduled Gil Vicente's Taça de Portugal debut for 14 October, away to União de Santarém, clearing the way for the Barcelos side to host Braga four days later.
The rearranged cup format makes the sequence possible. Under the new rules, the five Portuguese clubs in European competition this season — FC Porto, Sporting, Benfica, Sp. Braga and Torreense — are exempt from the third round of the Taça de Portugal.
Official confirmation is still pending. Braga face a packed Conference League schedule of their own, with a trip to Copenhagen on 15 October and a home game against Gent on 22 October sandwiching the proposed date against Gil Vicente.
