About the player
Albert Rusnák signed his first professional contract with Manchester City in 2013 but never made a first-team appearance for the club. Instead, he spent that period out on loan at Oldham Athletic, Birmingham City and Cambuur, having come through the academy at MFK Košice before the move to England.
Rusnák joined Seattle Sounders as a free agent in January 2022, arriving with Designated Player status. In his first season at the club he scored in the semi-final as Seattle won the CONCACAF Champions League, and in the 2023 MLS play-offs he found a way through to score the winning goal against FC Dallas.
Rusnák scored a hat-trick against Columbus Crew in September and closed the year with a club record for goal contributions in a single MLS campaign — 10 goals and 12 assists. He added a Leagues Cup title with Seattle in 2025, though recurring hamstring injuries have interrupted his form at times.
Rusnák has represented Slovakia since 2016, reaching 37 caps and seven goals by March 2025.
