About the player
Over four seasons with Stanford Cardinal he made 55 appearances, won the Pac-12 conference title twice and was named to the conference's all-star team three times, earning the NCAA's Elite 90 Award along the way.
Seattle Sounders claimed Thomas off waivers from Chicago Fire in May 2021, but instead of the first team he went straight out on loan to New Mexico United. He fractured a vertebra in 2021 and missed further time with a back injury the following year.
He made his MLS debut for Seattle in February 2024, against LAFC, and appeared 15 times across all competitions that season. The breakthrough came in the 2025 Leagues Cup, where Thomas became first choice and kept four clean sheets in six matches as Seattle won the tournament. In the MLS regular season he has continued to share duties with Stefan Frei, making nine league appearances in 2025 before establishing himself as the Sounders' first-choice goalkeeper in the 2026 campaign.
At international level, Thomas trained with the United States under-23 side in 2019 without appearing in a match, and has not yet been called up by the senior national team.
