Augustin Anello

Agustín Anello joined Philadelphia Union in February 2026 in a $2.5 million move from Boston River, arriving on a contract running through the 2028-29 season with a club option for a further year.

His path to Philadelphia ran through Europe first. Anello came through the academies of Cornellà and Espanyol before signing with Belgian side Lommel SK in 2019, where he spent four seasons and made 42 appearances, scoring seven goals. A loan to Hajduk Split in 2023 took him into Croatian football, including a run in the domestic cup, before he moved to the Netherlands with Sparta Rotterdam. He had limited first-team action there, and a loan to SC Cambuur in 2024 gave him another chance to play regularly.

It was in South America, at Boston River, that Anello found his most productive spell, scoring nine goals in 41 appearances. Since arriving in Philadelphia, he has featured against Atlanta United and set up a goal for Milan Iloski.

Born in Hialeah, Florida, Anello holds US citizenship and has represented the United States at under-23 level, with two caps to his name. He now wears number 28 for the Union as he looks to establish himself in MLS after a career spent largely on the move across European leagues.
