About the player
Shirt number 5 at Hajduk Split went to a left-footed Belgian. Alec Van Hoorenbeeck signed for the Croatian club in the summer of 2026 on a contract running to 2029, arriving from FC Twente .
He came through the academy at KV Mechelen and made his first-team debut on 24 August 2019. What followed was a run of moves designed to get him playing. Hoeselt took him in early 2020 for seven matches. That summer he crossed into the Dutch second tier with Helmond Sport , and the stay stretched to a full year: 38 appearances and three goals.
Twente borrowed him in the summer of 2023 and used him 16 times. The club had seen enough by March 2024, when it bought out his Mechelen contract for a reported €600,000. Permanent status did not settle him into the side, though. For 2025/26 he was loaned again, to Heracles Almelo , where he played 24 matches and scored twice.
The Hajduk transfer fee is not firmly established in public reporting. His name has surfaced in coverage of Hajduk's matches against Raków, though the detail there is thin.
