Aleksa Vukanović

In November 2018 Aleksa Vukanović stood at the top of the Serbian SuperLiga scoring charts with 12 goals, level with Nermin Haskić. He was playing for Napredak Kruševac at the time, and the run of form did what such runs tend to do: within two months he had signed for Red Star Belgrade.

The route there had been a slow one. He came through ČSK Čelarevo, where he made 94 appearances and scored 18 goals between 2010 and 2014, spent a season at OFK Bačka with two goals in 22 matches, then went back to Čelarevo for a second spell that brought 11 goals in 25 games. Napredak signed him in 2016, and it was there that the scoring became consistent — 29 goals in 90 league appearances over three years.

At Red Star he won three consecutive SuperLiga titles, in 2018–19, 2019–20 and 2020–21, and the Serbian Cup in 2020–21. His own numbers were more modest: 11 goals in 55 appearances across the three seasons.

He left Serbia in 2022, joining Meizhou Hakka in China as a free agent and scoring nine times in 26 appearances. A move to Umm Salal in Qatar followed in early 2023 and lasted only months — four matches, one goal.

Vukanović returned home in September 2023, signing for Vojvodina on a free transfer. He has since made 68 appearances for the club and scored 15 goals. He has never been capped by Serbia at any level, senior or youth.
