About the player
Anderson Castillo introduced himself to Manta fans with a goal inside the first minute against Guayaquil City. It was over almost as soon as the game had started.
He came up through El Nacional before Independiente del Valle brought him in during 2023 and sent him to feeder side Independiente Juniors in Serie B. He scored six goals for the team that year, then added six more the following season in a shorter run of matches, though a lone Copa Ecuador appearance brought nothing to show for it.
Manta signed him as a free agent at the turn of 2025, announcing the deal in late December and formalising it in January. His first season in Serie A was modest by comparison: eight appearances without a goal. The strike against Guayaquil City in July 2026, which came with a yellow card in the same match, broke that run.
Castillo is right-footed and has not featured for Ecuador at any level so far.
