Jean Carlos Blanco Becerra

Jean Carlos Blanco made his name at youth level before he made it anywhere else: at the 2009 Under-17 World Cup in Nigeria he scored the equaliser against Argentina in the round of 16, a match Colombia went on to win on penalties as the side finished fourth. He was never called up by the senior national team afterwards, and that tournament remains the high point of his representative career.

His club career started the same year at Cúcuta Deportivo and rarely settled anywhere for long. Spells at Atlético Huila and Deportes Tolima gave way to two years with La Equidad, whose books were shared with the satellite club Inter Bogotá; across that stretch he was credited with 22 league goals. A move to CSKA Sofia in 2017 brought four goals in fifteen appearances before he returned to Colombia, passing through Independiente Medellín, Once Caldas, Unión Magdalena and Boyacá Chicó inside three years. A season in Finland with Ilves followed.

Ecuador turned into his most settled and productive spell. At Técnico Universitario he scored 23 goals in 65 matches, his best return anywhere, and he added eight more for Aucas the following year. A brief spell back in Colombia with Atlético Bucaramanga in 2025 preceded his move to Manta, where he trained with the squad while his exit from his previous club was still being settled. He now wears the number 9 shirt there, with 423 appearances and 80 goals recorded across his career.
