About the player
Angel Gomez Arevalo made his way through Portuguese club football before arriving in Bulgaria. Between 2016 and 2019 he trained in the academies of SC Vianense and Gil Vicente, then moved into senior football with Aves' under-23 side in the Liga Revelação, where a single appearance produced a goal.
Varzim signed him in 2019 and the club became the constant in his career, with a first spell running through to a loan-style switch to AD Limianos in the 2023/24 campaign. At Limianos, in the Campeonato de Portugal, he scored five goals in six matches. He returned to Varzim for 2024/25, where the goals dried up: a single strike in 30 league appearances in Liga 3, plus one Portuguese Cup outing.
In July 2026, as a free agent, Gomez Arevalo signed for Spartak Varna until June 2028. He has since made one appearance in the efbet League.
He holds dual Venezuelan and Portuguese nationality but has not represented Venezuela at senior or youth level. He is not to be confused with the English midfielder of the same surname, Angel Gomes, who also has Portuguese family ties but plays for England.
