About the player
Angharad James made her debut for Wales at 17, in 2011, and has gone on to captain the national side. By 3 August 2025 she had earned 135 caps and scored six goals for her country.
Her club career has taken her through nine sides without a major trophy to show for it, but her individual output has been consistent. At Bristol Academy, between 2012 and 2015, she reached an FA WSL final and an FA Cup final.
James left Wales for the United States in 2021, spending a season each at North Carolina Courage and Orlando Pride before returning to England with Tottenham Hotspur in 2022. She moved back across the Atlantic in 2024 to join Seattle Reign, now playing as OL Reign.
Recognition at home has come mostly at youth and national-team level rather than in club silverware. She was named Wales Women's Young Player of the Year in both 2013 and 2014, then took the senior Players' Player of the Year award in 2017. Earlier still, as part of the Wales under-19 side, she was included in the Squad of the Tournament at the 2013 European Championship.
