Phoebe Lynch McClernon

Phoebe McClernon grew up in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and came through the Penn Fusion Academy before spending time in the Region I Olympic Development Program. Her college career at Virginia stretched across four seasons and 88 appearances, earning her a place on the All-ACC second team in 2019 and the All-ACC third team in 2017, plus a spot on the third-team All-America list in 2018.

Orlando Pride picked her in the second round of the 2020 NWSL Draft, 14th overall. Her first year with the club was disrupted before it properly started: the Challenge Cup campaign ended with Orlando withdrawing from the tournament. She used the gap to join Swedish side Växjö DFF that August, playing 12 matches in the Damallsvenskan. Back in Orlando, she signed a two-year contract in January 2021 and made 21 league appearances that season.

She joined Seattle Reign FC in 2022 as part of a trade that sent a first-round draft pick, Celia, and Lu Barnes back to Orlando. That same year she was part of the Reign side that won both the NWSL Shield and The Women's Cup.

At international level, she has represented the United States at under-23 level, featuring in three matches at the Portland Thorns Invitational in March 2018.

She now plays her club football at OL Reign, the successor to the Seattle side, wearing the number 21 shirt as a defender.
