Ariadina Alves Borges

In São Luís, in Brazil's northeastern state of Maranhão, Ary Borges grew into a midfielder. At the 2023 World Cup, in Brazil's opening match against Panama, she scored a hat-trick — the first player in the history of the Women's World Cup to do so — and added an assist in the same game.

She began her professional career at Palmeiras, in Brazil, where she played from 2020 to 2022. In December of that year she signed a three-year contract with Racing Louisville FC in the United States, going on to make 53 appearances for the club over three seasons. In early 2026 she moved on again, signing a three-year deal with Angel City FC, where she now wears the number 8 shirt. The transfer fee has not been disclosed.

Borges made her debut for the Brazil senior team on 17 September 2021, in a 3-1 friendly win over Argentina. By July 2023 she had made 30 appearances for the national side, scoring 10 goals. She was part of the Brazil squad that won the 2022 Copa América Femenina in Colombia, scoring twice in the tournament, and she was again on the winning side when Brazil won the title at the 2025 Copa América in Ecuador.

Her run of tournament appearances was interrupted in 2024, when she underwent knee surgery and was left out of Brazil's squad for the Paris Olympics.
