About the player
Brandon Bye's route to Major League Soccer ran through the Michigan amateur circuit before it ran through a college programme. He played for Western Michigan Broncos and turned out for local sides Grand Rapids FC, Kalamazoo FC and Minneapolis City SC, the kind of grounding that preceded his selection by New England Revolution with the 8th pick of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft.
That move became the defining stretch of his career. Bye spent seven seasons at New England Revolution, making 189 appearances and scoring 10 goals as a right-sided wing-back, establishing himself as a fixture in the side over that period rather than a squad option passing through.
In December 2025 he left as a free agent for Portland Timbers, taking the number 5 shirt. Brandon Bye is a product of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and his switch to the West Coast marks the first time in his professional career he has worn a shirt other than New England's.
