About the player
Finn Surman was born in Cardiff but grew up mainly in Christchurch, New Zealand, where he first took up football. In 2021 he went out on loan to Lower Hutt City AFC.
Surman made his senior debut for Wellington Phoenix on 7 December 2021, in the FFA Cup, and signed his first professional contract with the club in February 2022.
Portland Timbers signed Surman in July 2024 on a contract running to the end of 2026, with a club option for a further year.
Surman plays for New Zealand at international level and was named in the country's squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
