Antony Alves

Antony Alves arrived at Portland Timbers in August 2023 after building his game in Portugal, where three seasons with FC Arouca in the Primeira Liga produced eight goals in 54 appearances. Before that stretch abroad, his path had run through Brazilian football in a familiar shape for a young forward: formative years at Joinville, in his home state, interrupted by a loan to Corinthians that yielded only three appearances.

Since joining Portland, Alves has become a regular presence in attack, taking the number 11 shirt and passing 70 appearances for the club. He has also shown a hand in build-up play, setting up David da Costa with a flick in a 4-2 win over LA Galaxy.

The forward's season was interrupted in May 2025 by a lower-body injury that kept him out for spells across three matches.

Alves has yet to add senior international recognition to his résumé. His development, instead, has been built through the loan and transfer route common to Brazilian forwards seeking regular football abroad, from Portugal to Major League Soccer.
