Carlos Mora

Before Universitatea Craiova came calling, Carlos Mora's route into Romanian football nearly went elsewhere: his agent, Mihăiță Pleșan, first offered him to FCSB and Rapid București in June 2024. Craiova signed him instead.

Mora came through the academy at LD Alajuelense in his native Costa Rica and stayed with the first team from 2020 to 2024, a spell in which he was rarely out of the side, running up well over a hundred league appearances and around thirty goals. He left with a full trophy cabinet: the Apertura 2020 league title, the 2021 CONCACAF League, the Costa Rican Cup in 2023 and that year's CONCACAF Central American Cup. In the 2023 Clausura he finished as the tournament's top scorer.

He joined Craiova on 1 July 2024, signing a four-year contract to 2028 for a fee reported at around €300,000. His first goal for the club came in December 2024, against Petrolul. He has since become a regular fixture in the side, though goals have come more sparingly than they did at Alajuelense: by the midpoint of the 2025/26 season he had made 51 appearances for Craiova, with four goals and five assists.

Mora made his senior debut for Costa Rica on 30 March 2022, against the United States, and has since won 17 caps without scoring. He has featured at both the 2023 and 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cups, reaching the quarter-final on each occasion, as well as in the 2022–23 CONCACAF Nations League and World Cup qualifying campaigns.
