Danny Gabriel Luna Morán

Danny Luna made his name as a left-footed winger built for the final third rather than the tackle, a player whose numbers stand out most in the Copa Sudamericana, where he finished as the competition's top assist provider with five in 2022. That form fed into a move to Liga Deportiva Universitaria (LDU) that same year, a €450,000 transfer that made him one of the more valuable pieces of his career on paper. The switch itself was overshadowed by a separate episode: Luna later said he had turned down a move to Barcelona SC in 2022 because of the involvement of a businessman connected to the club's management, a claim he made publicly rather than one that surfaced through the transfer itself.

At LDU, Luna won Ecuador's Serie A title in 2023 and lifted the Copa Sudamericana the same year, the high point of a career built mostly in his home league. He had already collected a Serie B title in 2020, and at provincial level took the Guayas championship with 9 de Octubre in 2019, a club where he spent three seasons after arriving in 2019.

Luna's path started at Rocafuerte FC, where he came through as a teenager before senior football took him to Deportivo Quito, Universidad Católica, Mushuc Runa and River Ecuador. Internationally, he represented Ecuador at youth level, appearing for the under-20 and under-22 sides, including a spot at the 2011 Under-20 World Cup, though his path to the senior national team is not established. After LDU, he had a brief spell at Deportivo Cuenca in 2024, then Vinotinto FC in 2025, before joining Aucas.
