About the player
Darío Aimar has moved five times in a decade of professional football. The defender started out at LDU Loja in 2013, scoring once in 16 appearances before Barcelona SC signed him in December 2015 on a five-year deal.
He spent 2023 split between SD Aucas and Guayaquil City FC, seven and 13 appearances respectively, before leaving Ecuador altogether in 2024 to join Bolivian side The Strongest, where he made 25 appearances and scored once. By August 2025 he had made seven appearances and scored once for LDU Quito, wearing the number 6 shirt.
At international level, Aimar was capped seven times by Ecuador between 2017 and 2019, wearing the number 3 shirt. He made his debut on 22 February 2017 in a friendly against Honduras and featured during Ecuador's qualifying campaign for the 2018 World Cup, though he did not find the net in his time with the national side.
