About the player
Diego Sanhueza broke through with a shirt he was only borrowing, starting 29 matches as the club won the Primera B and returned to Chile's top flight.
He had come up through Arturo Fernández Vial, the Concepción club where he spent four years from 2020. The path from there ran through loan spells at San Luis de Quillota and Unión La Calera in 2023.
That changed in January 2025, when Ñublense signed him as the fifth addition of their off-season rebuild, on a contract running to the end of 2027. Ñublense handed him the number 16 shirt and a place in the starting XI, and by the middle of the year he had already featured in the Copa Libertadores qualifying rounds.
There is no record of a call-up to any Chile national team, junior or senior, at this stage of his career.
