Matías Andrés Plaza Berrios

The debut, when it arrived, was a modest one — a Primera B fixture against Temuco in February 2022, some way from the top flight the club had occupied only two seasons earlier, when Plaza trained with the squad without getting a look-in.

Iquique was the loan that gave him minutes he could not find at home. Sent out in 2021 to play regular Primera B football, he returned to Wanderers the following year and stayed until the end of 2023, when the club's failure to win promotion back to the top division closed that chapter. Ñublense is where he has rebuilt since, and the numbers there tell of a player finding a role rather than dominating one: seventeen appearances, two goals, two assists in his most recent campaign.

Chile's youth setup noticed him early enough to bring him into training with the under-17s and under-20s, though no cap at either level followed, and the senior national team remains untouched territory. It leaves a career built in increments.
