Diogo Prioste

Diogo Prioste joined Benfica's academy in July 2010, aged six, having taken his first steps in the game at Damaia Ginásio Clube. He worked through every age group at the club before making his Benfica B debut on 24 April 2022.

The following season he did not feature for the B team at all, and it took until 2023/24 for him to become a regular, with 27 appearances and a single goal. The breakthrough came in 2024/25: 27 matches and seven goals from midfield. Diogo Prioste was made captain of Benfica B for 2025/26, a season in which he played 26 matches, scored four goals and set up seven more. He has made 81 appearances and scored 12 goals for the B team.

He has also had a taste of the first team, making three appearances in the Primeira Liga. His debut came on 22 February 2025, against Boavista. He was part of the Benfica squad that beat Sporting 1-0 to win the Portuguese Super Cup in July 2025, and in 2022 he came on as a substitute in the 86th minute of the final as Benfica's under-20 side beat Peñarol 1-0 to win the Under-20 Intercontinental Cup, having already been crowned national youth champions the previous season.

Prioste has never been capped by Portugal's senior side but has represented the country at every youth level from under-15 to under-20, making 35 appearances and scoring three goals; he captained the under-19s at the 2023 European Championship. In July 2026 he left Benfica on a season-long loan to Gil Vicente.
