About the player
What sticks about Eduardo Aguirre is the medal. As part of Mexico's under-23 side he won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, a CONCACAF Under-17 title in 2015, and three years later a golden boot and top scorer's tally of seven goals at the Toulon Tournament.
He came through at Santos Laguna, where he spent the bulk of his early career, broken up by a loan spell at Tampico Madero between 2017 and 2018. Across 108 appearances for Santos Laguna he scored 20 goals. His full Mexico debut arrived on 27 October 2021 against Ecuador, though international minutes stayed scarce — three caps without a goal by the following August.
A move to Atlas in 2023 gave him a fuller run in a forward's shirt. He scored 17 times in 88 games there, wearing the number 19 he still carries. That spell closed in 2026 with a return to Santos Laguna.
