Egor Sorokin

Egor Sorokin made his only appearance for the Russian national team on 10 September 2018, coming on as a substitute for Ilya Kutepov in the 87th minute of a 5-1 friendly win over the Czech Republic. It remains the single cap on his international record.

His club career took him through both Russian and Kazakh football before a move to China. He made 45 appearances and scored six goals for Rubin Kazan across two spells, interrupted by loan spells at Rubin-2, Aktobe and Neftekhimik. A move to Krasnodar followed, where he made 56 appearances and won bronze in the 2019/20 Russian championship.

Sorokin's move to Kazakhstan proved the most productive stretch of his career. After a brief spell at Elimai, he joined Kairat Almaty, where he made 33 appearances and scored twice. With Kairat he won back-to-back Kazakhstan championships in 2024 and 2025, and added the Kazakhstan Super Cup in 2025. He left Kairat for Chengdu Rongcheng as a free agent, where he has scored three goals in 16 appearances.

At 192cm, Sorokin has generally played as a central defender through a career built on incremental steps rather than a single breakthrough — loan spells, a long stint at Krasnodar, and then silverware once he moved to Kazakhstan with Kairat.
