About the player
Felipe Aguilar went down on the pitch in Brazil in April 2019 after a collision, lost consciousness and was taken to hospital before Santos confirmed there was no lasting damage.
Aguilar came through the Atlético Nacional academy and made his first-team debut in March 2011. A loan spell at Alianza Petrolera followed, where he wore the captain's armband, before he returned to Medellín. The Recopa Sudamericana, a Colombian league title and two Colombian Cups followed with Nacional, and in 2018 he was rated the league's best passer.
Santos signed him in 2019, in a deal reported to have eased the Brazilian club's finances, and just over a year later Athletico Paranaense paid around €10 million for half his economic rights. Loan spells in Argentina, at Lanús and then at Independiente, took up much of the following two seasons, and a short stint at Águilas Doradas brought him back to Colombian football in 2025.
He signed for Deportivo Cali as a free agent, wearing the number 2 shirt, and made 27 league appearances, scoring twice. In March 2026 he was at the centre of a row after a message about a player "strike" at the club drew wide attention in the Colombian press. His international career has been limited to three caps for Colombia, the first of them in May 2016.
