About the player
Fernando Martínez was brought on in the second half of the Copa Argentina final against Vélez Sarsfield in December 2024, watching the match finish 1-0 and the club lift its first major trophy.
Martínez came through the academy at Gimnasia y Esgrima in La Plata, the city where he was born. He was included in the first-team squad in February 2021 and made two appearances in the Copa de la Liga Profesional before the year was out. In 2022 he moved to Central Córdoba de Santiago, playing three league matches in his debut season at the club.
The following two years took him away from Santiago del Estero on loan. In 2023 he joined IA Potencia in Argentina's second division, playing 11 matches and scoring once. In 2024 the loan continued at Temperley before he returned to Central Córdoba in June that year.
Since coming back, Martínez has featured across the club's various competitions - the Copa Argentina, the Supercopa, the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana - taking his total for Central Córdoba to around 48 appearances and two goals.
