About the player
Twenty goals in sixteen games. That was Gil Pinto Martins 's return for FC Porto's under-19 side in 2023/24, a season in which he also played nine matches in the UEFA Youth League and scored once.
Martins came to Porto in 2018, at twelve, after early years at AD Sanjoanense in his home town of São João da Madeira and three seasons at CB Estarreja. He spent from 2023 to 2026 attached to Porto B, the club's reserve side in Liga Portugal 2. He made 21 league appearances in 2024/25 without scoring, and one apiece in the seasons either side.
He scored five times in seven friendlies for the U19s during 2024 and added a goal in three European Championship qualifiers for the 2025 tournament. Before that came 11 caps across two years at U18 level, three goals in total, and a place in the squad for the 2023 European Under-17 Championship, where he played three matches without scoring. He had scored once in the six qualifiers that took Portugal there.
On 2 February 2026 Martins left Porto as a free agent and signed for Gil Vicente , taking the number 20 shirt. He made one Liga Portugal appearance in the remainder of 2025/26.
