About the player
The name at Angel City is already familiar to anyone who follows the club: Gisele Thompson plays alongside her sister Alyssa, and in May 2025 the pair delivered a first for the NWSL — Gisele's first professional goal, set up by her sister.
She signed with Angel City on 7 December 2023 through the NWSL's U-18 Entry Mechanism, joining the first team four days before her 18th birthday. The club extended her contract in January 2026, tying her to the team through the end of the 2028 season. On the pitch she operates as a right-back, with the versatility to slot in as a right wing-back or right midfielder when needed.
Her form has carried into the international game. She has featured for the United States at youth level, taking bronze at the 2024 Under-20 World Cup, silver at the 2023 CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Championship, and bronze at the 2023 Pan American Games. She has since stepped up to the senior side, winning the SheBelieves Cup with the United States in 2026, and in January of that year played in two friendlies against Paraguay and Chile under head coach Emma Hayes.
In the 2026 season she made 19 appearances for Angel City, scoring four goals and adding one assist.
