Gan Chao

Gan Chao started out with Beijing Renhe, joining the senior squad in 2014 and helping the club win promotion back to the Chinese Super League in 2017. He moved on a free transfer to Shenzhen FC in January 2018, where he went on to make 47 appearances and again played a part in a promotion campaign, this time back to the top flight in 2018.

That pattern repeated itself a third time. In April 2021 he joined Chengdu Rongcheng on loan and was a key figure as the club secured its own promotion to the Chinese Super League that year. The move was made permanent in April 2022, on another free transfer, and Chengdu has been his club since. By August 2024 he had reached his 100th appearance for the side.

Individual recognition has followed more recently: in the 2025 Chinese Super League season he was named Player of the Round for Round 26 after scoring a decisive goal in a game against Shanghai Port. Team honours at the highest level have been harder to come by — no major title such as the CSL championship or the FA Cup features on his record at either Shenzhen or Chengdu.
