About the player
Jung was on the pitch when Germany's under-21s beat England in the semi-final of the 2017 European Under-21 Championship in Poland — he started that match, having also played in the group stage against Denmark. He did not feature in the final against Spain, but he was part of the squad that won the tournament.
The route there began at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, where he came through the youth system and made 22 Regionalliga appearances for the senior side between 2013 and 2014. That was enough for Hamburger SV, who paid around €150,000 for him in July 2014. He turned out for the reserves and for the first team in both the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga.
In 2021 he left on a free transfer for SpVgg Greuther Fürth, becoming a regular starter in the 2. Bundesliga for four seasons, until August 2025.
He joined Kayserispor of the Turkish Süper Lig on a free transfer and made four appearances before the spell ended in early 2026. He signed for Alemannia Aachen in February 2026 and now wears number 21 in the 3. Liga.
A centre-back at 189 cm, right-footed, Jung has built a career on Germany's second tier rather than its first. He has won no major senior club titles and no individual awards.
