About the player
Gonzalo Escudero has never known another club shirt. He joined Racing Club's academy at three years old, in 2010, and stayed inside the youth ranks for thirteen years before signing his first professional contract in March 2023, a deal that carried a release clause of 15 million euros. Few players in the squad can claim a footballing upbringing that traces so completely to one badge.
The first-team debut came on 27 August 2023, against Tigre, closing the loop on more than a decade spent working through Racing's youth divisions. Escudero plays as a central defender, and the club's development staff had marked him out early enough to build a long-term deal around him rather than risk losing him on a free elsewhere.
He has already collected silverware with the first team, part of the Racing squad that won the Copa Sudamericana in 2024 and followed it with the Recopa Sudamericana in 2025. Those two trophies arrived within his first two seasons as a professional, a rapid return for a player still establishing himself in the side.
At international level, Escudero has represented Argentina's under-17 side, making three appearances and featuring at the 2023 South American U-17 Championship in Ecuador, where the Argentine side finished fourth.
Born in Avellaneda, the city that houses Racing's stadium, Escudero's career so far reads as a single, unbroken line: academy to debut to continental honours, all in Racing colours.
