About the player
Hörður Ingi Gunnarsson's career has stayed almost entirely within Iceland, broken by a single spell abroad. He went out on loan twice in 2017 - to Víkingur Ólafsvík and to HK - and by 2018 had moved on to ÍA, where two seasons brought 41 appearances and two goals. A return to FH followed in 2020, yielding 38 matches over two years.
In 2022 he left for Sogndal in Norway's second tier, making 23 appearances there and scoring twice before going back to FH in April 2023. That third stint at FH was short - eight matches and a goal in the 2023-24 season - before he joined Valur in the summer of 2024 on a contract running to November 2027. He has made 33 appearances for the club, with one goal.
Gunnarsson made his senior debut for Iceland on 30 May 2021, in a 1-2 friendly defeat to Mexico.
