About the player
Blooming raised José María Carrasco Sanguino through its academy, and by the time he left for a loan spell in Ecuador he had made 96 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals. That move to Independiente del Valle in 2021 turned on him almost immediately: he suffered a torn cruciate ligament in his debut match and was out for more than eight months. He still finished the year a champion, sharing in the club's Liga Pro title before he had properly established himself there.
A loan to Universidad de Chile followed in 2022, then a return to Bolivian football with The Strongest in 2023. Carrasco has since moved through Nacional Potosí, Real Tomayapo and, most recently, Al-Ain in Saudi Arabia's second division, before coming back to Blooming this year, the club where he started out.
He has represented Bolivia six times, making his debut against France on 2 June 2019, and featured at that year's Copa América as well as in World Cup 2022 qualifying.
A right-footed defender standing 185cm, Carrasco now wears the number 55 shirt for Blooming.
