Joaquín Azzem Vergés Collazo

Joaquín Azzem Vergés Collazo has rarely stayed anywhere long. He came up through Defensor Sporting in Uruguay, then moved to Tacuarembó in 2014, where he won the Segunda División title in his first year at the club. Montevideo Wanderers and Rentistas followed in 2017 before he returned to Tacuarembó the next season.

The move that stands out came in 2018, when he joined Águila in El Salvador. Over two seasons he made 73 appearances and scored 16 goals, and was part of the side that won the Clausura title in 2019.

He arrived in Ecuador in 2022 to sign for Gualaceo, interrupting that spell with a loan at 9 de Octubre, where he added a goal in 15 games before going back. At Gualaceo he scored 20 times in 45 matches and was named the best player of the championship's opening stage that year. A move to Mushuc Runa followed in 2024, yielding 8 goals in 50 appearances across the season.

In 2026 he crossed to Nicaragua to join Real Estelí and won the Clausura title there too, scoring 5 goals in 20 matches. He has never been called up to the Uruguay national team, despite a career total that, by August 2026, stood at 387 matches and 65 goals. He now plays in Ecuador for Manta, wearing squad number 55.
