About the player
One goal in 141 Danish Superliga appearances is the one that defines Jacob Steen Vestergaard Christensen's first five years as a senior professional. Known as Jaxe, he came to FC Nordsjælland in 2012 from Akademisk Boldklub, worked through the academy there and made his senior debut in 2018. He became a regular in the side.
The move to 1. FC Köln came in 2023 on a free transfer. He was given the number 22 shirt and played in the Bundesliga, then in the 2. Bundesliga after the club went down. He was part of the Köln squad that won the 2. Bundesliga title in 2024–25. Across those two seasons he made seven league appearances for the first team.
In September 2025 he moved to Molde FK in the Norwegian Eliteserien, and by May 2026 he had played 16 matches for the club. In August 2026 he was loaned to SønderjyskE for the 2026–27 season.
Denmark have used him at almost every youth level: three caps at under-16, seven at under-17, twelve at under-19, two at under-20 and one at under-21. He has not been capped by the senior national team, and he has not won an individual award.
