Sønderjyske beat Randers 4-2 in the Superliga Regular Season on Sunday at Sydbank Park. The hosts took the lead through Osaze De Rosario in the twenty-fifth minute before Elies Mahmoud equalised for the visitors nine minutes later. Brynjar Ingi Bjarnason restored Sønderjyske's advantage on the stroke of half-time and Mohamed Cherif extended it shortly after the restart.
By then the game had settled into a rhythm where Randers controlled possession but struggled to convert. They kept 61 per cent of the ball and launched 131 attacks compared to 81 for the hosts, yet their shooting accuracy of 43 per cent told a different story. Sønderjyske managed 70 per cent accuracy with seven shots on target from nine attempts, while Randers hit the frame six times from eleven tries.
The visitors pushed back after Cherif's goal. Mohamed Sankoh pulled one back in the sixty-sixth minute and for a moment Randers thought they might salvage something. Ismaïl Seydi however scored in the seventy-eighth minute to seal the result, and and here's the thing — it was the kind of finish that comes from holding your nerve when the game is still alive.
Substitutions told their own story. Sønderjyske brought on Ebube Duru in the thirty-ninth minute and later replaced both Dalton Wilkins and Anders Raffnsøe Hoeg together in the sixtieth. Randers made a double change at half-time with Martin André Sjølstad and Kasper Junker coming on, then added Simon Stüker in the sixty-seventh minute as they searched for an equaliser.
The result moves Sønderjyske off the bottom of the table with five points from nine games, while Randers remain eighth with ten. The hosts had lost three of their last four before this win, including a heavy 5-2 defeat to Horsens, and suddenly things looked different. To be fair, Randers came into the match with more momentum after beating Brøndby 3-0 in their previous outing.
