About the player
Javier Güémez López joined Dorados de Sinaloa's youth ranks in 2007, working his way through to the first team by 2010.
Güémez went on to earn 15 caps for Mexico between 2014 and 2018, and had already lifted continental honours at youth level, winning the North American U17 championship and the CONCACAF U17 Cup in 2015.
After two seasons at Club América, he moved to Querétaro, where he made 63 appearances and scored three goals between 2017 and 2019. A spell at Toluca followed, interrupted by a loan to Atlético San Luis, before he committed to the San Luis club on a permanent basis in 2021, with 130 appearances and six goals across three seasons.
Güémez signed for Santos Laguna in 2025, wearing the number 6 shirt, and has made 12 appearances for the club so far.
