About the player
José Amado Gómez, known within the club as "Pocho", came through every level of the Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero academy.
The high point of that spell came in 2024, when Central Córdoba won the Copa Argentina for the first time in the club's history, beating Vélez Sarsfield 1-0 in the final. Gómez was part of the squad for that campaign, though he was not among the starters picked for the final itself. He missed a stretch of the same year, between August and October, through injury.
In January 2025 he was sent on loan to Atlanta, in Argentina's second division, where he spent the season before returning to Central Córdoba in December 2025. He remains at the club going into 2026. He has not been called up by the Argentina national team.
Off the pitch, Gómez spoke publicly in September 2020 about contracting COVID-19 at the age of 20. He described around 20 days in isolation, with symptoms including breathlessness, loss of smell and taste, and conjunctivitis, and said at the time that the illness left him with no lasting effects.
