About the player
The substitution came on 4 October 2025, at home in the Croatian top flight against Vukovar 1991: Luka Hodak replaced Fran Karačić. He had been in the club's system for a decade by then, since 2015, after two years as a boy at NK Mosor.
Hodak played for Hajduk's U19 side in the 2023/24 season, and on 1 July 2025 he moved up to the first team as a free agent — no fee — on a contract that runs to 30 June 2029. He was already in a matchday squad before his league bow: he was named for the UEFA Conference League qualifier against Zira on 31 July 2025.
By the middle of 2026 he had 16 league matches and one in the Croatian Cup. The 2026/27 season brought three more in the HNL and one in the UEFA Europa League. He is listed as a right-back, and has also been used as a defensive midfielder.
Croatia have called on him at two levels. He played for the under-19 side during the qualifying campaign for the 2024–2025 European Championship, and he has two caps for the under-21s in qualifying for the 2027 tournament.
The contract with Hajduk has three more years to run.
