About the player
Köster's clearest mark against VfL Bochum came while he was wearing someone else's shirt. On 25 October 2025, on as a substitute for Holstein Kiel in the 2. Bundesliga, he scored in the 86th minute. Three months later he arrived at Bochum himself — on loan to the second team, and never on the pitch for the first.
The route there ran through two of the biggest academies in the Ruhr. He started at FC Herdecke-Ende, spent a year at Borussia Dortmund, then six at FC Schalke 04 from 2016 to 2022. What he did not get at Schalke was a senior breakthrough; that came at Hansa Rostock II, where he played from 2022 to 2024 and won the Oberliga Nordost-Nord in his first season, taking the side up to the Regionalliga Nordost. The senior Rostock team used him in the 3. Liga from 2023 to 2025.
Kiel followed in 2025, first the reserves and then the first team. An attacking midfielder who can also be used wide, right-footed, he has never been capped by Germany at any youth level from U16 to U21 — the only representative football on his record is three appearances for the Westfalen U16 regional selection.
The Bochum loan ran for the first half of 2026 and gave him the number 10 at the second team. In the summer he moved on again, to Alemannia Aachen, where he wears number 8. None of his moves have carried a disclosed fee; most have been free transfers or loans.
