About the player
Lucas Araújo came through Grêmio's academy and made his first-team debut there in 2020, going on to play eight matches and score once during his time at the Rio Grande do Sul club, which won the Campeonato Gaúcho that year. A move to Bahia followed in 2021 , and it proved his busiest spell in Brazilian football — 22 appearances across the league, the Campeonato Baiano, the Copa do Nordeste and the Copa do Brasil, with a goal and an assist to his name. Bahia lifted the Copa do Nordeste that same year.
A loan to Sampaio Corrêa in 2022 kept him playing regularly before further switches took him through, at the start of 2025, to Portimonense in Portugal. He arrived in Bulgaria as a free agent on 29 September 2025, signing for Botev Plovdiv.
In his first season at Botev he made 20 appearances in the efbet League, scoring once and picking up four yellow cards along the way.
