About the player
Franklin Geovane de Santana Chagas , known throughout his career as Mascote, started out in the Brazilian lower divisions with Tiradentes-CE before a loan spell at Taboão da Serra. The move to Atibaia in 2018 brought his first piece of silverware, the Campeonato Paulista Série A3, and the following years followed the pattern of a stint at São Caetano, a loan to Braga's B team in Portugal, and further loans at Pouso Alegre, where he won the Campeonato Mineiro Segunda Divisão, and at Cabofriense.
A loan to Bolivia's Always Ready in 2021 took him into the Copa Libertadores group stage. He returned to Lemense before joining Retrô in 2022, then took his football further afield still, signing for South Korea's Busan IPark as a free agent in 2023.
It was back at Retrô, after returning in 2024, that Mascote had a standout season. He finished the year with 23 goals in all competitions, the club's top scorer, and in September 2024 was named the best marksman in Retrô's history. Five goals in one match against Serrinha in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série D, a result that pushed the club into the competition's second phase, contributed to that tally. Retrô went on to win the Série D title that year.
He scored the winner in a 1-0 away victory over Slavia Sofia in March 2026 and featured as Botev beat reigning champions Ludogorets 2-1 the previous month, taking his tally in the Bulgarian league to nine for the season.
