About the player
Lucas Ayala was named in Leonardo Madelón's squad list for the 2026 season. He made his senior debut that July, starting away at Platense in a match that finished 2-2. Days later he started again in a 0-2 defeat at Gimnasia, in Mendoza, before being replaced in the second half, and within the week he was back in the side for a 2-1 win over Lanús, coming off late on for Bruno Pittón.
He came through Unión's own academy. Ayala started out at Santa Clara FBC, in his home town of Santa Clara de Buena Vista, before joining Unión at the age of eight. He was a regular in the Copa Proyección, turning out in both the Clausura and Apertura editions of the competition.
Unión tied him to a contract running to December 2028, agreed while he was still working his way up from the reserves.
