About the player
Mar del Plata gave Argentine football another tall, right-footed striker in Lucas Di Yorio, who came through at Aldosivi and made 11 first-team appearances between 2016 and 2021. Sent to Ecuador's L.D.U. Portoviejo in 2019, he scored 14 goals in 34 games.
From there Di Yorio became a wanderer. A spell at Uruguay's Cerro Largo produced nine goals in 13 matches, and by 2022 he had signed for Mexican side Pachuca. At Everton de Viña del Mar in Chile he scored seven in 13; at Club León in Mexico he found the net 11 times in 35 outings and, with that club, won the CONCACAF Champions League in 2023.
Athletico Paranaense brought him to Brazil in February 2024, and he added a Campeonato Paranaense winner's medal in his first year there. Chile called again in 2025, this time via a loan to Universidad de Chile: 12 goals in 27 games. He has yet to be capped by Argentina at senior international level.
