Luciano Boggio

Boggio came through Defensor Sporting's academy and was still a teenager when the club won the Uruguayan U-19 title in 2018 under coach Ignacio Risso, part of a generation that later carried the shirt into the first team. He made his professional debut for Defensor Sporting in the Uruguayan top flight in April 2019 and went on to become a regular in midfield there before Nacional signed him.

The move to Nacional put him at one of Uruguay's two biggest clubs, and he has settled into the side with the number 6 shirt. Nacional's league title win is the clearest marker on his record with the club, and by the following season he had built up a run of appearances that put him among the more established midfielders in the squad, with three league goals to his name across recent campaigns.

At youth international level, Boggio was part of the Uruguay squad that took silver at the 2018 South American Games, an early sign that his form at Defensor Sporting had caught the attention of the national set-up.
